Partisan School Board Elections and Carson Is a Demo

At the last School Board Work Session, I laughed out loud when School Board Chair Karen Carson made a comment that she is a Republican. I have an older copy of her voting record and she has voted in Democrat primaries. August of 1996 and on February 10, 2004 when she was first on the ballot for School Board, she voted in the Democrat primary. I need to obtain an updated copy. She also has quoted Hillary Clinton’s “it takes a village” in PTA publications that Carson has authored and published.

I didn’t think much of it until I saw a Democrat assert in comments over on the local liberal blog that Carson is a Republican. I have been an active Republican activist since I was 16. I have NEVER missed an election since I turned 18 and I have NEVER voted in a Democrat primary. To paraphrase a popular statement of former Senator Bob Dole. I know she is not a Republican, you know she is not a Republican and all the people of Knox County know she is not a Republican.

As Republicans we do not (like Carson) attempt to have closed backdoor meetings and we do not blame the media for all the problems we encounter.

I hear Carson is planning to lot concerned parents ability to attend this afternoon’s meeting by hosting it in the tiny room next to the School Board’s conference room. Let’s hope there’s enough interest that Carson isn’t allowed the opportunity to intimidate the public and get her–and Jim McIntyre’s story straight–for lots of Public involvement.
